| There are many varieties of animal also living in the forests including deer, fox, wildcat, badgers otters, ferrets and weasels. Jimena is situated on the migration route from Africa and therefore is of great interest to birdwatchers, who can sight such predators as the Royal and Imperial Eagles, Falcons, Hawks, Royal owls and a variety of Vultures. The area is famous for its butterflies. Jimena de la Frontera is situated next to the Hozgarganta River where one can enjoy swimming and beautiful walks along either side of the river. Man’s presence in and around Jimena de la Frontera can be traced back to prehistory and is proven by the dramatic cave paintings at nearby Laja Alta. | ||||||||||||||
