| The white village of Jimena is situated in Western Andalucian in Southern Spain. Topped by a ruined castle it is surrounded on 3 sides by the Los Alconocales National Park, famous for its migrating birds and cork oak forest. There are lovely walks locally in the valley of the Hozgarganta river and in the surrounding hills. The area is well known for ornithology, wildlife, walking and painting. There is horse riding available in the village, swimming in the Hozgarganta river and a municipal pool in a beautiful setting open to the public in July and August. There is a well stocked village supermarket, local shops, tapas bars and restaurants. There are various festivals throughout the year including an August fair, a carnival in February or March, a horse and agricultural fair in mid May with music and dancing and a music festival in the last week of July. | ||||||||||||||
